A mortgage broker helps you explore mortgage options based on your financial circumstances, property plans and the lender’s criteria. Mountview Financial Solutions provides guidance on residential mortgages, first-time buyer mortgages, remortgages, buy-to-let mortgages and offset mortgages. A mortgage adviser can help you understand the available options and the steps involved in applying.
Some mortgage lenders offer products for buyers with smaller deposits, although eligibility depends on the lender’s criteria, your income, credit history and affordability. A mortgage adviser can help you explore suitable options and understand how your deposit may affect the products available to you.
Yes, self-employed applicants can apply for a mortgage. Lenders typically assess your income, trading history, credit profile, existing financial commitments and affordability. They may request tax calculations, tax year overviews, business accounts or other evidence of income. Requirements vary between lenders, so speaking to a mortgage adviser can help you understand which options may suit your circumstances.
A poor credit history does not automatically mean you cannot get a mortgage. Lenders consider factors such as missed payments, defaults, outstanding debts, deposit size and affordability. Your options will depend on the details of your credit history and individual lender criteria. A specialist mortgage broker can help you understand the options available.
The deposit you need depends on the property’s purchase price and the mortgage products available to you. Some residential mortgage accept deposits of 5% of the property price, while others require a larger amount. A larger deposit may provide access to a wider range of mortgage options, although this is not guaranteed. You should also budget for legal fees, surveys, moving costs and other purchase expenses.
Consider reviewing your mortgage several months before your existing deal ends. This gives you time to compare available options, check your affordability and understand any fees or early repayment charges. The right timing depends on your current mortgage terms and the options available from lenders.
A mortgage is a loan secured against a property, commonly used to purchase a home. Remortgaging means replacing your existing mortgage with a new mortgage, either with your current lender or another lender. Homeowners may consider remortgaging when their current deal ends, when their circumstances change or when they want to explore different mortgage features. Any potential savings should be assessed against fees and other costs.
Life insurance is not generally a legal requirement for taking out a residential mortgage, although a lender may have specific requirements for certain products. Life assurance can help protect your family financially if you die during the policy term. The appropriate cover depends on your mortgage, dependants and financial circumstances.
